GreyToGreen

We are a youth-led 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working on initiatives for the sustainable development and preservation of environments around the world.

We run a greenhouse and industry-standard compliant aquaponics system to provide fresh product to the local student body and community. The 10 x 20 x 8 ft3 greenhouse grows tomatoes, squash, peppers, eggplants, and other vegetation.

GreyToGreen has adopted Nichols Road in Suwanee, Georgia to run monthly initiatives to remove litter and trash from the roadside. In addition to this, we run community engagements to raise support for anti-pollution initiatives and laws.

In partnership with Lambert High School, GreyToGreen has started an honor society with over 350 members who maintain community agricultural projects and participate in recycling and trash removal drives

GreyToGreen’s tree planting initiatives have been some of its most successful to date, with over 100,000 trees planted around the world and nurseries developed across Guatemala.

We have partnered with Seed Programs International to purchase seed packets to fund supplies for Ukranian refugees. These packets are being used to establish greenhouses in remote parts of Guatemala to increase access to fresh produce.

Our organization runs an extensive social media presence and podcast that provides a platform for environmentalists and environmental advocates to speak out about scientific and political challenges with regards to climate change and pollution.

Here are some excerpts from the GreyToGreen community on the causes that matter to us

Meet the Leadership Team

I’m a high school student who was inspired to join the fight for the future of our planet by the horrors of pollution in the cities of Delhi and Gaya in India. Outside of my efforts in the environmental field, I am an avid pianist and reader
Ishan Mahajan

Cofounder

Ever since my early childhood I’ve tried to do my part to preserve the state of our environment from holding recycling drives to planting trees in my community. I realized that fighting against the destruction of our planet is an effort beyond any individual, and started GreyToGreen to mobilize those around me to support these causes as well.
Brian Yoo

Cofounder

As a long-time resident of India, I have seen the tragic effects that pollution and littering can have on ecosystems and communities everywhere. I hope to use GreyToGreen to support environmental causes both in my current home city of Atlanta, as well as around the world.
Vishnu Dontu

Cofounder

The environment is an integral part of human society, and throughout my time in high school it became clear that our environment should be a top priority. GreytoGreen is making strides to improve and conserve our ecosystems from Georgia to Guatemala.
Carter Xu

Director

The earth is the only home we will have and it is our responsibility to take care of it, which is why I have always made it a priority to pick up trash that I find laying on the ground whenever I can. However, I hope that with GreyToGreen, I am able to make a bigger impact. We are already seeing the impacts of climate change with the number of natural disasters increasing and temperatures rising every year, which is why the time to act is right now.
Sanjh Mahatme

Managing Director

For the past 4 years, I have worked as an agricultural and environmental researcher to develop solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental problems. By combining some of the most potent advances in environmental science and engineering with the activism and community engagement of GreyToGreen, I believe that we can pave the path to a sustainable future while preserving our planet.

Co-President

As a long-time activist and aspiring entrepreneur, I hope to make use of the incredible intersection between the environment and the world of business to make a difference and work towards creating a sustainable future with GreyToGreen. Climate change and the environmental catastrophes that we are seeing today will cost millions of people their livelihoods and cause widespread suffering. It is up to my generation to avert this dystopian future.
